Free Back to School Sleep Talk
Sep 18, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am
Learn how to get your child’s sleep in shape for winter during this free online talk. Sleep is intimately linked with mental health for both adults and children. As a society, we consistently undervalue the need for deep and regular sleep ( 7-8 hours in adults). It is JUST AS IMPORTANT AS EXERCISE AND DIET. In children, poor sleep is associated with low mood and difficulty controlling emotions, and lack of achievement in school – partly as a result of not being able to concentrate.
I’m going to cover:
- Some simple sleep science
- Why caffeine in drinks and food is something we all need to avoid
- What your family can start doing today to get sleep-ready for being back at school
- Morning routine changes for more wakeful days and earlier bedtimes
- Tips for limiting night-time electronics that can actually work
- How to get buy-in from your teens and preteens to avoid arguments
- Time for questions
When: Saturday the 18th of September
Time: 10am-11.15/30am

About Me.
I am a parent and shared all the joys, up and downs from baby to adulthood. We survived all my mistakes to reach a place of compassion and deep connection. Combining motherhood with working hasn’t always been easy. However, the parents and children who let me into their lives during my 31 years in the NHS have been some of my greatest teachers. It was an honour and continues to be.
Up until three years ago, I worked in CAMHS ( In and outpatient Services) with children and families with complex emotional and behavioural issues. I worked with children with complex sleep difficulties. In addition, I offered multi-agency consultations with Paediatricians, Social Workers, Health Visitors, and Teachers. I am also a trained facilitator in two evidenced based parenting courses, the Incredible Years and the Solihull Approach. My workshops integrate all my life experiences.
By booking this workshop, you accept my Terms and Conditions.
I offer bespoke workshop packages to organizations, charities, and parents. I’ve collaborated with Clifton College, STAND NW Charity, Windmill Hill City Farm, Newbury Racecourse Nursery, and other Nurseries in Bristol. Do contact me for a conversation on how I can help you.
