Compliance and Certifications of Power Diary

Data security is a complex field, and we are not so arrogant to profess to knowing everything. That’s why we believe in externally validated certifications and security standards recognised as worldwide best practices.

In 2023, Power Diary earned the coveted ISO 27001 Certification for its healthcare data security. ISO/IEC 27001 is the globally-recognised, standards-based approach to security that outlines requirements for an organisation’s information security management system (ISMS). In obtaining this certification, Power Diary has demonstrated adherence to the requirements of the ISO security framework, which an external audit has validated. Power Diary has also committed to the ongoing recertification process, which involves continuous improvement of security standards.

In addition to being ISO 27001 certified, Power Diary is fully compliant with all applicable healthcare data privacy and security laws and frameworks in the markets we serve. This includes;

  • HIPAA – America’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
  • GDPR – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the UK and Europe
  • The Australian Privacy Act and its principles
  • PIPEDA – Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
  • POPIA – South Africa’s data protection and privacy law
  • CCPA – the California Consumer Privacy Act for residents of California

These standards provide the necessary safeguards to ensure that users’ personal data is private and secure, and that appropriate security measures are in place for processing such information. We are committed to complying with contractual terms with our customers and service providers, and to comply with the security and privacy standards outlined above. See more about our Security and Privacy Certifications and Compliance.

I aim to:

  • Minimize the amount of information about you we hold, keeping only what is strictly necessary
  • Share it only with your knowledge and consent, or when we have safety and safeguarding concerns or are legally obliged to share it
  • Keep it only as long as necessary
  • Securely dispose of it when it is no longer necessary to keep it

The information I record clinically:

When you start using our services we need to collect information about you and then each time you use the service we add to it. The information recorded may include:

  • Basic details about you, such as an address, date of birth, family members’ contact details.
  • A very brief summary of the time you spent with me and the issues we worked together.
  • I aim not to keep it as long as necessary and I am looking into the length of time that I keep information is the time I work with you and 1 year.
  • As part of providing a professional, safe, and efficient service, I may need to share this information with my supervisor. However, it won’t be shared with anyone else except under the circumstances set out below.

I would only share your information about there was a safeguarding issue.  I am bound by the Code of Ethics of The NMC, so I would have to contact statutory services. This is not just if you or your child were at immediate risk. I would contact your GP or First Response and would always try to speak to you in the first instance, however, this mitigates immediate or long term risk. I can also be bound to share information if there is a criminal investigation.
